The Good Shepherd Centre / Residential Architecture, Fire Engineering and PSDP

Description

The Firm has developed specialist skills and knowledge in the delivery of accommodation for people with special needs including a hostel for Homeless Men for the Good Shepherd Centre with a total of 46 bedroom accommodation ancillary related works was completed for the Trustees at Church Lane, Kilkenny. The next phase of the development consisted if eight no. sheltered own door housing units for use as step down accommodation adjacent tot the main premises. All units have their living areas (which have a southern aspect and entrance doors opening on to the orchard garden area). The existing apple trees are retained as a feature. The units are monitored from the main reception area in the Good Shepherd Centre. The final phase included the development of a Gate Lodge which includes the provision of alternations and extension of an existing small cottage to provide housing unit for emergency family accommodation. The development being in an area of architectural heritage/conservation required to be completed to Conservation and protected structures standards. The extension was neatly constructed to the rear of the cottage. As there were historic buildings including the Bishop`s Palace of Kilkenny to the rear a low roof was provided.
