Refurbishment and upgrade of Cavan Town Hall, a protected structure for use as an Arts Centre. winner of the 2020 LAMA best heritage project award. The historic building complex includes a 3 storey front building housing the gallery, reception, office and artist’s workshops; and a single storey auditorium was finished in 1911 to an Arts-and-Craft style design. The stage building at the rear of the auditorium was constructed in 1970’s to a modern style. The works include the full re-pointing of the existing sandstone facades, re-slating and thermal up-grade of pitched auditorium roof, thermal upgrade of the auditorium floor, repair and draught proofing of all historic timber casement windows, M&E upgrade to contemporary office and theatre requirements. Along with these works a new platform lift and two universally accessible wc's are being introduced to insure Part M, Disability Access compliance for public buildings. The internal works include new layouts to provide artist’s workspaces, a new gallery space and a new reception area.
