Camphill Communities / Residential Architecture, Fire Engineering and PSDP

Description

Bluett & O`Donoghue Architects have completed a number of projects for Camphill Communities. The most current project includes the upgrading/extending of existing workhouse premises with sheltered bedrooms and provision of five residential units at the workhouse, Callan for Camphill Callan (2018, currently at tender stage). The buildings are being upgraded to improve accessibility and fire safety. Another project completed in the last year includes Camphill, Callan which involved the upgrading of an existing Granary building to include 3 no. apartments. Works are being carried out at the former Union Workhouse at Prologue, Clonmel Road, Callan to include a single-storey extension to existing two storey premises. Other works completed include the Callan Workhouse (1842), alterations and change of use of part of single-storey storage outbuilding and associated site works to provide residential accommodates members of the Camphill Community with disabilities, along with a responsible supporter. The apartment operates as a personal living space actively linked to the main building which already accommodates 9 members of the community. The development entails the refurbishment and conversion of the part of the outbuilding to a two-bedroomed residential unit to accommodate a disabled occupant and his care assistant.
